Carlos
López, PhD

Carlos has broad experience from molecular biology and biochemistry to protein purification and structural biology.

After graduating in Biotechnology from the University of Leon, he worked in protein allergology (TI Food and Nutrition) and food technology (TNO) in The Netherlands. Afterwards he moved to University of Cantabria where he got his Master´s Degree in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine gaining wide experience in genetic engineering and microbiology. He next moved to Biofisika Institute of the University of the Basque Country, where he studied protein interactions with Kv7.2 ion channel using fluorescence microscopy and FRET. He finally obtained his PhD at CIC bioGUNE studying the structure of the proteins involved in protein recycling and membrane trafficking using X-ray crystallography and cryoEM.

Carlos is currently working in the R&D Department of VIVEbiotech as a researcher in the development of viral vectors.
