How Can the Industry Make Advanced Therapies More Accessible to Patients?

Jon Alberdi, CEO of VIVEbiotech, participated in the latest episode of Roving Reporter, a series produced by The Medicine Maker and IBTV during ARM’s Meeting on the Med 2026 in Rome. The conversation focused on the need to evolve existing reimbursement models to better reflect the long-term value that advanced therapies can deliver, including improved clinical outcomes, enhanced quality of life and broader societal benefits.

During his contribution, Jon emphasized that improving patient access to advanced therapies requires collaboration across the entire value chain. From a CDMO perspective, he highlighted that reducing the cost of goods (COGs) will be essential to supporting more sustainable pricing and reimbursement models.

He also noted that advancing platform-based approaches and continuously improving manufacturing efficiencies can play a critical role in lowering production costs, helping make advanced therapies more accessible while supporting the long-term sustainability of the sector.
